Description

Start your visit at the Citadel of Namur. Here you not only have a fantastic view over the city and the Meuse, you also learn more about the history of Namur. The fortress is already 10 centuries old! In the old Terra Nova barracks, multimedia tells you the story of the city. Even more fun is the underground tour, through 500 meters of the extensive network of corridors under the fort. It's not for nothing that Napoleon called'the anthill of Europe\\\'!

You will also find a restaurant, a'self-terroir\\\' (self-service with local products, including beer) and Brasserie la Reine Blanche. Or take the cable car to the center for a drink and follow our city walk along the best beer addresses in Namur!

Our own city walk starts at the Craft Beer Market de Namur. Afterwards you will discover the atmospheric cafes on the Place Marché aux Légumes. Such as Le Ratin-Tot, the oldest estaminet in Namur, from 1616. Here you can choose from about 30 Belgian beers, including St Joseph Blonde or Brune and Blonde de Chavée. Les Poules à Lier is also a nice place to drop in, it's always fun here.

Barnabeer can be found a bit to the north. Here you only drink Belgian beers, from the barrel or from the bottle. They serve more than 300 specialty beers: blond, brown or amber, craft beers and abbey beers, with a great deal of attention for micro-breweries. Book a tasting or a Zythology workshop here. What a sommelier is to wine, a zythologist is to beer!

Brasserie François is a nice restaurant to have something to eat, just behind Saint Alban's Cathedral. The feeling of a Parisian bistro in Namur, with a very nice beer list. Then drop by the Église Saint-Loup. This beautiful baroque church can be found just down the street.

On the Rue des Brasseurs (street of the brewers!) is La Cuve: a cozy café specializing in Belgian beers. A nice spot with a small private courtyard in'le vieux Namur\\\'.
You will find a nice place to eat in the same street: Le Temps des Cerises. Here the taste of the region is central. Be sure to order the beer from Brasserie de la Houppe, which is located just outside the city. A professional brewery on a historic site: there was already a brewery here 200 years ago!
