Description

Your route starts at RG Tweewielers. You cycle across the Veluwe to Radio Kootwijk; a monumental building is rising on the Kootwijkerzand. This transmitting station was built in the 1920s to maintain contact with the then Dutch East Indies. The building, which most resembles a combination of a temple and a sphinx, stands out well against the shiny sandy hills and the irregular shapes of the pine trees that spontaneously rise from the sand. You drive back to Apeldoorn via the authentic Hoog-Soeren. You will pass Paleis Het Loo, the former royal palace that is open to visitors. This was the permanent summer residence of the Dutch governors and kings from 1686 to 1975. Worth a visit!
