The historic Hanseatic town of Ommen is located in a wooded landscape on the banks of the Overijsselse Vecht. Almost all Dutch landscapes can be found in the Vechtdal and there is still plenty of space and peace to be found. As you cycle, the landscape changes continuously and you meander through dark forests, heaths and sand drifts and you cannot escape the charming sight of the fens and lakes with cheerfully blooming water lilies. And almost silently the road suddenly continues through an idyllic farm landscape with hedgerows, green meadows and round fields. And then of course there is the Vecht itself, which meanders through the beautiful landscape that it has formed itself. On the hills, once pushed up by the advancing ice, you have a fantastic view of the varied landscape of the Vechtdal.
