The Colony and the Linde Valley

This 56 km route takes you through three provinces; Drenthe, Overijssel and Friesland. It is wonderful to stroll through water and forest. You cycle through Frederiksoord and Willemsoord in the Free Colonies of Benevolence. Via the Desperado Colony Noordwolde, known for its braiding, you enter the Lindevallei. The Lindevallei is part of the'wet ash\\\', a chain of swamp areas on the border of Fryslân and Overijssel. More and more attempts are being made to create larger units of nature. In this region this takes shape by connecting the Weerribben-Wieden nature reserves in Northwest Overijssel and the Rottige Meente and the Lindevallei in Friesland. Have fun cycling!
