Tour of Wanssum and Meerlo

It is beautiful to walk in the rural area of Wanssum. Put on your sturdy walking shoes, because the route is partly on unpaved paths. First you walk along the Groote Molenbeek. This stream has a total length of 32 kilometers and flows into the harbor in Wanssum and further into the Maas. It is beautiful walking along the rippling water, the meadows and through the moist forest. Just past junction 84 you can take a look at the Sint Goar Chapel, which originally dates from 1662. On the edge of Meerlo, the path leads you past the remains of a fifteenth-century castle. Further on you walk through the fragrant coniferous forest of the Hooge Heide. After your walk, enjoy a snack and drink at Cafe van Wieren.
