Tour of Maastricht, Sint Pietersberg and Voerstreek

At Eijsden you cross the Maas, which forms a natural border between Belgium and the Netherlands. French is immediately spoken across the street! You drive along Sint Pietersberg and a little later over it. Get off at the viewpoint over the ENCI quarry! In Maastricht you can discover the nice neighborhoods Jekerkwartier and Wyck. The last part of the route you drive through the Voerstreek, the Flemish enclave in Wallonia. You cycle through the picturesque villages of Sint-Pieters-Voeren, Sint-Martens-Voeren and's-Gravenvoeren. They owe their name to the Voer, a river that rises near the Commandery of Sint-Pietersvoeren. The history of this Commandery goes back to the thirteenth century, when a fortress was built here by the Knights Templar.
