Sint Nicolaasga (or St. Nyk as they say in Friesland) is located between the Langweerder Wielen and the Tjeukemeer. in the middle of the beautiful forests. In St.Nyk the oldest Catholic cemetery in Friesland.
Sloten (or Sleat) is the smallest Eleven Cities town in Friesland. This walled mini-city is also called siepel, thanks to its unique shape of an onion. The annual fair is held on Sipelsneon, or Onion Saturday. Discover all the treasures of Sloten by taking a city walk past the flour mill, bastions, gates and the monumental merchant houses.
Balk was known for its butter trade in the 18th century. The historic center with the river Luts (Eleven Cities Tour!) is a protected villagescape.
