Description

Your cycling route starts in Sibbe. Near the village of Wolfshuis you will pass the Van Tienhoven mill from 1855. It is the only mill in the Netherlands that was built entirely of marl. After Cadier en Keer you cross the elongated Savelsbos, in this sloped forest you mainly see deciduous trees such as pedunculate oak, beech, maple and horse chestnut. Get off at De Kwizzenjèr in Gronsveld. Further on you pass the Sint Gerlach castle, which was built as a monastery in the twelfth century. It was not until the nineteenth century that the monastery was converted into a castle. Then you cycle through Ingendael: a wonderfully quiet nature reserve with flowery grasslands through which the Geul meanders. Get off in Valkenburg to soak up the atmosphere and perhaps visit the ruins of Valkenburg Castle.
