Enjoy, relax in Drenthe

Drenthe is ideally suited for a day of cycling. With its almost old-fashioned tranquility and varied and natural landscape, you really feel like you have stepped back in time. That feeling is only enhanced when the route takes you through De Drentsche Aa National Park. Where almost every other area in the Netherlands was influenced by human hand, people here took the landscape as it was. As a result, the characteristic identity of this 150-year-old esdorp landscape was preserved. This area is therefore the best preserved stream and esdorp landscape in Western Europe.

While cycling you will see Saxon farms around the green, fields on the convex ash and hay meadows in the lower stream valley. You pass through a number of picturesque villages, such as Gieten, the ancient Anderen and Zuidlaren where seven greens are located. In the middle of the village of Annen you will find a characteristic grass green. Annen was voted the nicest village in Drenthe in 2013.
