Enjoy, relax in Drenthe

Drenthe is ideal for a day of cycling. With its almost old-fashioned tranquility and varied and natural landscape, you really feel like you have gone back in time here. That feeling is only enhanced when the route takes you through De Drentsche Aa National Park. While almost every other area in the Netherlands was influenced by human hands, people here took the landscape as it lay. As a result, the characteristic identity of this 150-year-old esdorp landscape was preserved. This area is therefore the best preserved stream and esvillage landscape in Western Europe.

While cycling you will see Saxon farms around the village green, fields on the rounded ash trees and hay fields in the lower stream valley. You will pass through a number of picturesque villages, such as Gieten, the ancient Andere and Zuidlaren where there are seven village greens. In the middle of the village of Annen you will find a characteristic grass green. Annen was voted the nicest village in Drenthe in 2013.
