Cycling route National Landscape Hoeksche Waard

Fancy a day out in the fresh air? Come cycling in the Hoeksche Waard region. You'll cycle through an open landscape of meadows, ditches, and reed beds. You'll also pass the Binnenbedijkte Maas River. What was once a tributary is now a recreational lake. In Westmaas, you can admire the beautiful village church dating back to 1650, after which you'll cycle to the hamlet of Oudendijk. On your left lies the Oudeland van Strijen, a meadow bird area consisting of ancient grasslands. Sometimes a hunting sea eagle can be spotted here. On the edge of Numansdorp, you can visit Fort Buitensluis on weekends, a defensive structure that forms part of the Defence Line of the Hollandsch Diep. Finally, you'll cycle past the Borrekeen and through the Zuid-Beijerlandse Bos. Enjoy a snack and a drink at Eeterij-Tapperij De Platte Reedijk.
