Your route starts at Huupkens IJs. Between the Dutch Weert and the Belgian Maaseik lies a unique nature reserve: Kempen-Broek. In this border park you drive through a succession of different landscapes. For example, you pass through the Krang, where you see deciduous and coniferous forests, coppice and old bulb fields. The Wijffelterbroek was once part of a large border swamp. A perfect area for smugglers, now you can enjoy beautiful views on a winding path. On the Pruiskesweg, get off at the picnic bench in the bend of the road, with a beautiful view of a fen. The Laurabossen is a former timber extraction forest. You will experience a wonderfully invigorating silence between the many pine trees. On the way back you have some nice views of the IJzeren Man, a recreational lake.
