Maas and Heide route

Cycling along the Maas is beautiful. You will find picturesque villages and special nature reserves. First you drive through the lush forests of Landgoed Geijsteren. Further away is Wanssum, where the Groote Molenbeek flows into the Maas. You cycle along the river on an unpaved path through the floodplains. Diagonally opposite the Protestant church is the driveway of Blitterswijck Castle, destroyed in 1944. On the other side of the Maas you cycle past the moated Well Castle, which originally dates from the fourteenth century. Further on you drive through the Bosserheide, a nature reserve that is part of the Maasduinen National Park. You cross the river again, near the bank are the remains of't Oordje Castle. Via Maashees you cycle back to Pannenkoekenhuis De Perdstal.
