Cycling through Oisterwijk and the Oisterwijk forests

You'll encounter plenty of history on this tour. In Moergestel, you'll pass a centuries-old, nameless corn mill, and a little further on stands St. John's Church. Oisterwijk received its city charter as early as the thirteenth century. Its rich history is evident as you cycle along De Lind, the old market square that has protected townscape status. The Oisterwijk woods offer beautiful cycling among coniferous and deciduous trees. It won't be difficult to downshift here. Along the Beerze River, you'll pass the Spoordonk Watermill, a photogenic spot. Further on, you'll find the Chapel of the Holy Oak in the heart of the forest. In 1406, two shepherds are said to have found a statue of the Virgin Mary in the Beerze stream here and placed it in an oak tree. Along the way, stop at De Rozephoeve!
