De Ronde Venen, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 241181
Provided by: Dutch Cyclist, Utrecht
This is a real green heart route, city and country are both well represented! yet it is a green route that you can enjoy cycling through.
I made this route in the summer, which means an open bridge every now and then and many boats on the water, the abundance of water is certainly part of the green heart.
The following suggestions for when you cycle this route:
- right behind Gouda between 29 and 24 is less stretch, I would cycle via Moordrecht and Nieuwerkerk, a little more kilometers.
- the ferry at the Kaag only runs in the summer, every half hour and the trip takes 10 minutes. cost two euros.
- Going off the route in the cities or villages is fun, so you see a little more of the centers.
- the last part from Leimuiden is a bit more boring, but I have cycled there many times and maybe that's it!.
