De Ronde Venen, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 241181

This is a real green heart route, city and country are both well represented! yet it is a green route where you can cycle nicely.
I made this route in the summer, which means that you will occasionally encounter an open bridge and many boats on the water, the abundance of water is certainly part of the Green Heart.
The following suggestions for when you cycle this route:
- just behind Gouda between 29 and 24 is less broken, I would cycle via Moordrecht and Nieuwerkerk, although a few more kilometers.
- the ferry at the Kaag only goes in the summer, every half hour and the trip takes 10 minutes. costs two euros.
- It is fun to go off the route in the cities or villages, so you see a little more of the centres.
- the last part from Leimuiden is a bit more boring, but I've cycled there often and maybe that's it!
