A beautiful nature walk in the area where the Keersop river flows into the Dommel. This is also where one of the two footbridges connecting the three villages of Bergeijk, Valkenswaard, and Waalre is located. (Where the bench is located.) The old church path also leads to the old Frankenplein ('t Loon). There are also several pleasant rest stops along this route. During wet weather, it is important to wear waterproof footwear. Standing on the bridge at Loonderhoeve, you'll see the small concrete bridge over the old Dommel River on your right. This bridge used to circle the current farm. In 707, the castle of the ruler of the current church villages of Waalre, Aalst, and the municipality of Valkenswaard stood here. He then donated a piece of land in Waalre-dorp to Willibrordus to build a wooden church. Now stands the old Willibrordus Church, built of stone and dating from 1200, which also had to be restored after the war. Enjoy this nature trail and route with pure VolGenot (full enjoyment)!
