Description

Put on your sturdy and waterproof walking shoes for a route through two beautiful nature reserves: the Markdal and Mastbos. First you walk into the Markdal. There are extensive meadows and willows and alders growing along the winding River Mark. It is wonderfully quiet here to walk along the rippling water. Ideal for a day of relaxation. At junction 7 you turn towards the Mastbos, which was constructed at the beginning of the 16th century on the orders of Count Henry III of Nassau. This makes this one of the oldest planted forests in the Netherlands. The forest served as a hunting ground for the Nassaus, but also provided ship masts for the VOC. Nowadays the forest offers you as a walker plenty of variety and silence!
