Katwijk and Leiden from Voorschoten

Your route starts at Hudson Voorschoten. Stately Wassenaar is known for its monumental villas and estates. Then you cycle through Berkheide, a nature reserve that consists of small valleys and parabolic dunes. The many dune roses that bloom in the spring are striking. You will also come across many remains from the Second World War here. Katwijk is home to a wealth of monuments and attractions, such as old churches, the Spinoza House and of course the dune landscape. After a stop at your starting point, you will dive into beautiful old Leiden. Here you can enjoy the typical Leiden atmosphere with its monumental buildings and bridges. Leiden Castle is located on an artificial hill that was built around the year 1000, probably as a refuge in times of flood.
