Along the coast of Terneuzen

This Zeeuws-Vlaanderen circuit along the mouth of the Scheldt is definitely recommended because of the nice cycle path on the dike. The route leads through tiny villages such as Griete, Kreverhille and Walsoorden. The area here is sparsely populated and you mainly cycle through agricultural landscape with wonderful views. You cycle along the Western Scheldt for the first part of your tour. The river has numerous mud flats and salt marshes. These are sand flats that lie both outside the dike and inside the dike. These areas are important breeding grounds for birds such as the avocet, redshank, sandwich tern, ringed plover and black-tailed godwit. After Walsoorden you cycle to the picturesque Kloosterzande. With new energy you cycle through beautiful polders, until you arrive at your starting point after more than forty kilometers.
