20. The Hague - Hillegom - Amstel Radler, Tour de Hollande

On the day the Tour de France heads towards Alpe d\\\'Huez, we follow the route of our two Tour winners. From The Hague we drive straight through the dunes towards Hoek van Holland. We continue our way along the Nieuwe Waterweg. On the way we encounter an imposing building; The Maeslantkering, a storm surge barrier]. We also try the vicious short climb here. Via Maassluis and the Vlaardingerdijk we arrive in Vlaardingen, the birthplace of Teun van Vliet who drove in yellow for three days. After this we cross through Midden Delfland to the Westland, where many good cyclists have been trained, at Westland Wil Vooruit. After Delft we arrive in Nootdorp, the birthplace of Jan Janssen, the first Dutch Tour winner. Respect! At Leidschendam we drive up the road along De Vliet, a beautiful stretch along the water towards Leiden (birthplace of yellow jersey wearer Gerben Karstens). Via Oegstgeest we eventually arrive in the Bollenstreek, the region of Sebastian Langeveld, among others. We drive past the Keukenhof and finish in Hillegom.
