By the municipality of Alphen-Chaam

This cycling route takes you through the entire municipality of Alphen-Chaam: through the Chaam forests, over the Strijbeek heathland and the villages you find here. Your route starts at Natuurkampeerterrein 't Beekdal. Today you cycle through the green border area between Breda and Tilburg. The extensive and dense forests here used to offer sufficient opportunities to cross the border unnoticed. Perfect area for smugglers, who steal through the forests here with, among other things, butter. The Chaamse Bossen used to be a rugged area with sand drifts and wet heath, but it was reclaimed between 1900 and 1935. Fens were drained, grassland emerged and Scots pines were planted. On the Strijbeekse Heide you cycle close to the Langven, a nice spot to get off for a while.
