Description
This walk starts at restaurant De Dagvisser, the fish restaurant of The Hague, located on the inner harbor of Scheveningen.
From there you walk along the harbor quay and past Duindorp to the beautiful Westduinpark; one of the largest nature reserves in The Hague (240 ha), located between Scheveningen and Kijkduin.
This protected dune park has a very varied landscape with dense forests, open plains, moist dune valleys, a unique dune lake and high dune peaks. Scottish Highland cattle also graze in the area.
Thanks to the diverse landscape, the Westduin Park has a wide variety of flora and fauna: on the coastal side, for example, very different animals and plants can be found than in the inner dunes. There are also a number of special places and sights in the Westduinpark.
Tip 1: Parallel to the first, western part of the route, you can also alternatively walk on the beach (or barefoot through the surf!).
Tip 2: walk this route at sunrise or sunset!
