The Lytse Marren Cycling Tour has been declared the most beautiful cycling tour in Friesland by 'Mijn Friesland'. This tour takes you 62 kilometers through the National Landscape of Southwest Friesland (the tour can also be cycled as a 45 km tour! Enjoy the view over vast meadows, the beautiful lakes for which this part of Friesland is known and characteristic Frisian villages.
Strolling through Bolsward
The start and end point of this route is in Bolsward. This eleven-city Hanseatic town is full of monuments and museums that are worth admiring. Take the time to stroll or cycle through this town and get to know the Frisian culture. Also drop into a butcher's shop if you happen to pass by and buy a fresh Frisian dry sausage. The sausages are freshly smoked weekly and they taste delicious. This way you can take a little bit of Friesland home with you as a memory of this bike tour. Tourist information tip: after about half an hour of cycling, you can stop at Kootje bij de Brug (VVV information point Lytsemarrenfietstocht) between junctions 13 and 12, one of the most beautiful tea gardens on the water in Southwest Friesland. Taste the delicious homemade apple pie or a delicious coupe of farm ice cream. Just do it.
