<p>A beautiful cycling route where you, like the painter Mondriaan, discover the beauty of the Achterhoek landscape.</p> <p>Starting point Villa Mondriaan</p> <p>Turn left onto Zonnebrink, then straight into Vredensestraat. Then follow the signs to junction 14.</p> <p>Winterswijk  </p> <p>The most eastern part of the entire Achterhoek is Winterswijk. The village is bursting with special sights. There is a particularly small-scale rural area that has been designated a National Landscape.</p> <p>Sonnewei Vineyard</p> <p>Wijngaard Sonnewei is located between the Rommel Mountains and the Korenburgerveen nature reserve in Winterswijk. This beautiful vineyard in Corle is idyllically located and can be reached via a public footpath between the Dollemansweg and the Korenburgerveenweg. The Vineyard consists of 3,300 grape plants planted on an area of one hectare.</p> <p>Fortified town of Groenlo</p> <p>This route then takes you through the city center of the fortified town of Groenlo. During the 80 Years' War, the Battle of Grol in 1627 saw fighting for the town of Grol, the strongest fortress in the Netherlands. Grol, which had already been owned by the Spanish troops for 21 years, was conquered by the city conqueror Prince Frederik Hendrik in thirty days. The old fortified town still has bastions and the old city wall. The moat with the ravelin is still intact.</p> <p>Meddo</p> <p>The church village of Meddo, in the municipality of Winterswijk, is officially referred to as a hamlet and is therefore the largest hamlet in the municipality of Winterswijk. Meddo consists of a village center with a church from 1864 and a large rural area. </p> <p>Recreation area't Hilgelo</p> <p>Just outside Meddo is the't Hilgelo recreation area. It has an area of 36 hectares and consists of a spacious lake with beach, playing and sunbathing areas. Paths have been laid out around the lake and beautiful plants have been planted around it. </p> <p>Wijngaard Hesselink</p> <p>Wijngaard Hesselink is located between the palm and olive trees with a view of the vineyard. It is located in the idyllic cultural landscape on the road from Winterswijk to Vreden. With a choice of approximately 15 different wines, Hesselink has won several medals for their delicious wines.<br/>  </p>
