Description
A unique cycling route that goes from the Colonies of Benevolence, via the Weerribben to Blokzijl. You are, as it were, cycling the path that the paupers took more than 200 years ago. From the west, across the Zuiderzee, they arrived in Blokzijl and then continued by tow barge to Steenwijk.
They then traveled on foot and on carts to Willemsoord, Wilhelminaoord and Frederiksoord. Most with nothing in their pockets. Nowadays you can take a rest at various rest points along the way, experience the unique story and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Here culture and nature come together. Welcome then, welcome now!
Tip! Take some change with you for the journey. For a small fee, the Jonen ferry connects your cycle tour from Giethoorn to Blokzijl and vice versa. A wonderful experience.
