Around Westkapelse Kreek and along the beach

You can take a beautiful walk between Zoutelande and Westkapelle. First you walk through the dunes. From the path you have beautiful views over the beach and the sea, but also over Walcheren. In the distance you can see the old lighthouse of Westkapelle. After a while the route bends to the banks of the Westkapelse Kreek. This creek was created during a bombing raid by the Allies in 1944. The bombing destroyed the sea dike, so that a large part of Westkapelle and Walcheren was flooded. The water in the creek is brackish, because salty seepage water still flows in under the dike. You walk back through the dunes to Strandpaviljoen de Strandzot. Time for a snack and drink!
