Description
Would you like to cycle on the course of the Amstel Gold Race, but you don't like cycling between a large group of other cyclists? Then cycle your own race at a self-chosen time over part of the Amstel Gold Race course. The entire course consists of three loops that take you through the hilly South Limburg landscape, of which this route is the second and longest loop.
A beautiful part of South Limburg
This route is perfect for cyclists who like a challenge. You cycle over the steep hills in the vicinity of Vaals, Epen and Slenaken. Get ready for drops of sweat, sour legs and gritting your teeth, because that will certainly come in handy on this tough route. For that you get the most beautiful views over a beautiful part of Limburg in return. According to some, this is even the most beautiful part of the Netherlands.
A series of climbs
Like the other loops, this route starts at the famous Cauberg. From here you start slowly with a descent towards Maastricht and then you set course in a southerly direction. The Wolfsberg is the first of a series of climbs. Via the Vaalserberg you cycle to the highest part of the Netherlands and then you cycle back to Valkenburg.
Prefer to try a different loop?
If you are looking for an easier route you can go for Loop 1 . The climbs on this route are a lot less steep, making the route more suitable for novice cyclists. Loop 3 is in between the other two loops in terms of difficulty. You can of course also combine these routes with each other by cycling them one after the other.
