Would you like to cycle on the course of the Amstel Gold Race, but you don't like cycling between a large group of other cyclists? Then cycle your own race at a self-chosen time over part of the Amstel Gold Race course. The entire course consists of three loops that take you through the hilly landscape of South Limburg, of which this route is the first loop.
Mild climbs
The Limburg hills can be very steep, but on this route you will find mainly mild climbs that take a long time. Perfect for cyclists who prefer to avoid the real calf biters. This route is therefore also suitable for less experienced cyclists. This loop is the easiest route of all three loops, but that does not mean that the route is less beautiful. You will pass the most beautiful places in the Grensmaas valley along the way.
From mountain to mountain
The starting point of this route is at the Amstel Gold Race Xperience in Valkenburg aan de Geul. From here you cycle to the banks of the Maas near Maastricht and then cycle up the Maasberg, the only cobblestone climb in the Netherlands. Then you cycle back to Valkenburg via the Lange Raarberg. You end your tour with the ascent of the famous Cauberg.
Prefer to try a different loop? Are you looking for a slightly more challenging route? Then go for
Loop 3 . The most difficult and longest route can be found on
Loop 2 . For this route you really need something in your march, but it is the most beautiful route of all loops.
