From Renesse to Goeree-Overflakkee

From Schouwen-Duiveland you drive onto the Brouwersdam. It was completed in 1971 and is the seventh structure of the Delta Works. At Goerree-Overflakkee you drive past the Westduinen, a beautiful rugged landscape. During the Second World War, the Germans placed wooden imitation airplanes here to deceive. When the RAF was informed about this by the resistance, it dropped two wooden bombs. As you drive further along the beach, you can get a breath of fresh air. You cycle through the dunes of Goeree, after which you visit Goedereede. What a picturesque village! Just below Ouddorp you pass De Schans, a former military fort from 1665. Along the Grevelingenmeer you drive back onto the Brouwersdam. Via Scharendijk and Ellemeet you cycle back to Fiets aan zee in Renesse.
