Tour of Burgwerd, Bolsward and Witmarsum

Between Franeker and Bolsward it is wonderful to drive on quiet roads. Here you can enjoy panoramic views of vast grasslands at your leisure. An ideal region to leave the everyday hustle and bustle behind and relax. Along the way you will pass through some beautiful old towns, such as the terp village of Kubaard. The beautiful village church originally dates from the late Middle Ages. Burgwerd is also a terp village. From here you pick up the path along the Bolswardertrekvaart, a canal that was built in 1638. You drive along the water into Bolsward, one of the Frisian Eleven Cities. In the old city center you will see plenty of monuments, such as the town hall from 1617. Further on you will drive through the picturesque towns of Witmarsum, Pingjum and Kimswerd.
