Round Leeuwarden

Echoppertrip.nl is an ideal base for exploring Leeuwarden. The first kilometers you can get a breath of fresh air, while you drive through the wide polders. You pass through a number of villages, such as the atmospheric Dronrijp. Further on you can take a look at De Poelen, a polder windmill from 1850. Then you drive along the Van Harinxma Canal, which was opened in 1951. In Marssum you drive past the Poptaslot, a sixteenth-century Stins. You will also see the medieval Sint-Pontianuskerk. A little later you cycle into Leeuwarden, the largest city of the Frisian eleven cities. In the center you see plenty of old buildings. In Beers, the thirteenth-century Maria Church stands on the mound. Nearby you can see a steel reconstruction of the Uniastate, demolished in 1756, a stins of which only the gatehouse remains.
