Walk New Dordrecht Biesbosch

Put on your waterproof walking shoes for a walk through the Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch. This former agricultural area has a rich history. It was created by a flood disaster in 1421, the so-called St. Elisabeth's flood. Along the path you will see several former bunkers from the Dutch Line. From the Van Elzelingenweg you will see two old huts on a flood hill on the left. The reed cutters and willow workers used to stay here from Monday to Saturday. The characteristic trees served as a beacon to find the way back to the hut even in high water and bad weather. From the Zuidhaven you walk to the Oosthaven. The landschip is a mix of reed, willow, forest and river edges. You can spot many birds here, including the osprey! The route ends at De Watertoren Hotel & Restaurant.
