Description

First you drive a bit through Dordrecht. In the middle of the city you cycle through Landgoed Dordwijk, which was built around 1635. You cross the Beneden-Merwede by water bus. Via Alblasserdam you drive to the Kinderdijkse Molens. They were built in the eighteenth century to improve the drainage of the Alblasserwaard. Since 1997, the windmills have been on the Unesco World Heritage List. Step off to enjoy this historic view before you cycle into the wide landscape of the Alblasserwaard. Expansive meadows, streams and even more old windmills: this is Holland at its best. You will pass through some interesting old villages, such as Molenaarsgraaf and Wijngaarden. You drive back to De Watertoren Hotel & Restaurant along the edge of the Hollandse Biesbosch.
