Get to know the cozy villages of Amerogen and Leersum. Amerongen is a mountain village with small height differences. The picturesque streets in the center of Amerongen visibly slope towards the Nederrijn.

Climbing and descending
From Amerongen you walk to the forest of De Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. This route is especially suitable for hikers who like a climb. The moraine in this area causes differences in height, with the Amerongse Berg of around 60 meters above NAP as the peak. But you will also find heaths, shifting sands and flood plains. After a steep climb it is time to descend to Leersum. This village is known for the large flower parade that is held on the third Saturday and Sunday of August. This party is very special to experience, so be sure to take a look if you are in the area.

The Outdoor Lust
The start and end point of the route is Café Restaurant Hotel De Buitenlust. Take a seat on the terrace and let your tired legs rest. You are probably ready for a cup of coffee with a delicious piece of homemade apple pie or a dish of the day from the restaurant. Enjoyment blown at De Buitenlust.
