A chic bike ride through the Gooi

This route takes you from royal Baarn, where the Oranges lived for centuries at Soestdijk Palace and Drakensteyn Castle, to Blaricum. You cycle across the Eempolder along the river Eem. A short distance before you cycle back into Baarn, you will pass the beautiful Drakenburg conference centre. At the end of the bike ride you will arrive at Eethuys-Café De Generaal. The building used to serve as a station, with a special waiting room for the royal family. Admire the historic building and enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner in the meantime. Outside Blaricum you cycle through an area with so-called table mountains. These mounds were man-made and may have been used as sacrificial mountains. The hills can be up to 35 meters above sea level. A viewpoint has been constructed on the hill. It is definitely worth climbing up here and enjoying the beautiful view.
