Walking through beautiful nature

In the outskirts of Harfsen you walk through a rural environment. A walking tour to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. The tiny hamlet of Joppe has its own church. Our Lady of the Assumption is a Roman Catholic church. The church was built in the years 1866 - 1868 by order of baron EA van Hövell tot Westerflier, who lived in the't Joppe Castle at the time. The Gorsselse Heide is a beautiful wet heath area with a special flora and fauna. In recent years, the heath has been enlarged and measures have been taken to prevent it from drying out. The heath has thus regained its original natural and cultural values. Part of the surrounding forest has been cleared to make way for heathland.

Every year ten to twelve guided tours are organized on the heath by the IVN (Zutphen department) and Marke Gorsselse Heide, during which you will receive an explanation about the nature and history of this special area.
