Walk De Geelders from Boxtel

The route starts in the historic heart of Boxtel: on the Markt. You see many beautiful buildings here. Further on you will pass St. Peter's Basilica. It stands on a church hill and dates from the 15th century. Just outside Boxtel you enter the Geelders: a nature reserve that is part of the Groene Woud. Here you will see coppice banks, deciduous forest, poplar forest, farmland and heathland. The name Geelders probably comes from'gelde\\\', which means low and wet area. This is still one of the most important wet forest areas in the Netherlands. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk here. Before you know it, you'll be back in Boxtel. You walk back to the Market along the Dommel.
