Tour De Heide from Soerendonk

Your route starts at De Bout. From here you first walk along the edge of the connected Groote Heide and the Leenderbos. This Kempen landscape with its small height differences was created during the last ice age by deposits of sand. Then you walk into the coniferous forest of De Heide. In the rural area of Soerendonk, behind the monumental Cranendonck villa there is an almost round site, completely surrounded by canals. These are the remains of Cranendonck Castle. This once became the property of Oranje Nassau through inheritance, sale and marriage. Baron van Cranendonk is one of the many titles of King Willem Alexander. It is beautifully situated on the edge of the Cranendonckse Bos, a small-scale landscape with moist forests. Then you walk into Soerendonk, a characteristic Kempen village.
