The Achterhoek is at its most beautiful around Lochem. Here you cycle through a beautiful small-scale landscape with fairytale vistas. You will also pass some sights.
The Staring Dome is located between KP 17 and 16. This can be reached via a ferry that you have to cross yourself over the Berkel. The tea dome was built 150 years ago by the youngest daughter of the poet ACW Staring. From the small elevation on which the dome is located, you have a beautiful view over the Berkel and the wooded areas of the Velhorst and the Boekhorst. On the eastern edge of Lochem you will pass the estate De Cloese . The associated castle was built in 1520 by a pastor. An imposing bridge leads over a wide moat to the castle, which has an unprecedented allure with its many turrets and windows. The Zwiepse Molen is a corn mill from 1851. The octagonal windmill was placed on the Zwiepse Berg near Barchem. Due to the poor wind, the tower mill was moved several times, until it got its current destination in 1880. The mill is equipped for grinding grain and a volunteer miller is still at work.  From KP 75 you cycle a bit through Beekvliet: a characteristic Achterhoek estate. Here you see a mosaic of farmland, deciduous and coniferous forest, imposing tree-lined avenues and hedgerows. In Borculo you can enjoy a wonderful historic atmosphere. Borculo is located on the Berkel and received its city rights as early as 1375. Prince Willem V of Orange-Nassau purchased the Borculo seigneury in 1777. As a result, King Willem-Alexander still bears the title"Lord of Borculo\\\". On the quay in the cozy historic village center are some beautiful monuments to see, such as the Stenen Tafel, a water mill from the 18th century. A little further on is the Crystal Museum , which is located in the former town hall from 1887. A beautiful and authentic location: that is the Lebbenbrugge . The rear house dates from 1400, the transverse house at the front was added around 1550. The building once served as a farmhouse, toll farm, inn and hunting lodge for the Lords of Borculo. Now a museum is located in the old Saxon farm. Here you get an idea of how the farming population worked and lived here in the early 20th century. In Barchem you will pass the village church from 1861. Lochem has a lot of nature and is rich in history. On the market in the center of Lochem, the bumpy cobblestones recall the time when citizens still dragged in field cobbles to reinforce the city walls. The Grote or Sint-Gudulakerk, a medieval city church, is also located here. The church was designated as a national monument in 1966. In Laren you can admire the village church, a neoclassical water management church from 1835. Partly hidden in the green are a number of beautiful country houses and castles.
