Rural surroundings of Harfsen

With this short bike ride through the surroundings of Harfsen you will find yourself in a tranquil rural environment. There are no major cities on your route, at most a hamlet. A trip to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you. You cycle through the northwestern part of the Achterhoek. Bathmen is a lively village in the Sallandse country between Deventer and Holten. In this nice village you can see, among other things, the fifteenth-century village church. The tower has a gable roof. You then cycle along the ship stream where you can fully enjoy the rural beauty and tranquility. To the south of Deventer, the Oxerhof estate is sandwiched between the ship stream and the Dortherbeek. This estate is already mentioned in the 16th century as the country estate of the Duke of Gelre. during World War II, the Germans took over the building and used it as a camp for political prisoners. The tiny hamlet of Joppe has its own church. Our Lady of the Assumption is a Roman Catholic church. The church was built in the years 1866 - 1868 by order of baron EA van Hövell tot Westerflier, who lived in the't Joppe Castle at the time.
