Rural area of Harfsen

With this short cycle tour through the Harfsen area you will find yourself in a tranquil rural environment. There are no major cities on your route, at most a hamlet. A trip to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you. You cycle through the northwestern part of the Achterhoek. A varied landscape with fields, winding streams, vast meadows and small forests. The silence and tranquility almost feel old-fashioned. In short: an ideal environment to cycle through at your leisure. Bathmen is a lively village in the Salland region between Deventer and Holten. In this nice village you can see, among other things, the fifteenth-century village church. The tower has a gable roof. Then you cycle along the ship stream where you can fully enjoy the rural beauty and tranquility. The Oxerhof estate is located in the south of Deventer, wedged between the Schipbeek and the Dortherbeek. This estate was already mentioned in the 16th century as the country estate of the Duke of Gelre. During the Second World War the Germans took the building and used it as a camp for political prisoners. The tiny hamlet of Joppe has its own church. Our Lady of the Assumption is a Roman Catholic church. The church was built in the years 1866 - 1868 on behalf of Baron EA van Hövell tot Westerflier, then a resident of the Joppe Castle.
