Put on your waterproof hiking boots for a varied route in the outskirts of Esch. Just outside the village you walk on the Smaldijkje, a path lined with trees. You pass a Maria chapel, after which you visit Landgoed Sparrenrijk. This area is decorated with straight lanes, you will see coniferous and deciduous trees here. Until 1910, Sparrenrijk was part of Landgoed Eikenhorst, which you walk through from junction 60. Then you make a loop along the Essche Stroom. You see two faces of this river: the way it originally meandered through the landscape and the straightened stream. The fields around the meander are not only intended for growing crops, but also for water storage. Back in the old village center of Esch, you can enjoy a meal at Ons Café.
