From the village of Esch you can take a nice walk through the countryside. On the Smaldijkje you walk under the canopy of the many trees that stand next to the path. You pass some old farms and you also pass a Lady Chapel. Further on you enter the Sparrenrijk Estate. This area was originally part of a larger estate: Eikenhorst. It was sold in 1910 to a tanner's family who had a coniferous forest planted there. The wood was used for supporting poles in the Limburg mines. In 1954 the municipality of Boxtel acquired the area. In Sparrenrijk you will not find winding paths, but straight avenues laid out in a rectangular pattern. Nowadays a mix of conifers and deciduous trees grows there. You walk back to Ons Café along the meadows. Time for a coffee.
