Tour of the enclave village of Baarle

After a cup of coffee at Brasserie De Kievit, put on your walking shoes. You wind back and forth across the Belgian border in Baarle. A total of 30 pieces of Belgium and the Netherlands are intertwined in this enclave village! In the built-up area, the enclave boundaries have been made visible everywhere with special paving stones. The national tricolor on the house number signs also indicates whether you are in Belgium or the Netherlands. You will also come across the Bels line, this former track leads all the way from Turnhout to Tilburg. The last official train ran here in 1973. It is now a beautiful cycle path. The process has never been truly successful. With the completion of the Moerdijk Bridge in 1872, the railway connection via Antwerp became much more lucrative, connecting the port with Rotterdam.
