Description
This e-bike route takes you past the most beautiful spots of Grenspark Kempen-Broek, near Weert. And there are quite a few! Get off regularly and immediately take advantage of the short walking routes that we have set out for you.
Your route starts at the brasserie Nieuw Vosseven, near the Belgian border. You are right in the middle of nature here. More and more farmland is being converted into nature here, or managed in a more nature-friendly way. You can see that clearly from the Pruiskesweg, where you meander nicely along a fen. Here you can often spot TaurOssen, a primitive breed of cattle that has been brought back to life through crosses. Talk about new nature!
Then you cycle on a nice narrow asphalt path through the Laurabossen. At the Lozerweg (along the canal) you will pass a viewpoint a little later. Here the Kruispeel nature reserve extends along the banks of the Tungelroyse stream, which can meander beautifully again.
At De IJzeren Man you can get off for the Nature and Environment Center. A little further on you put your bike aside for a walk to the prehistoric urnfields on the Boshoverheide. You can then spot red deer from the watchtower in the Weerterbos. The last step is the Roman Bridge at Tungelroy: a reconstruction of the wooden bridge that used to be here in ancient times.
