Tour of Heuvelland from Maastricht

Your route starts at Camperplaats Maastricht. Nearby you will discover the wharf cellars of't Bassin with their restaurants, grand cafés, shops and galleries.In the summer it has a very Mediterranean feel with the terraces by the water. Further on you will pass the castle of Sint Gerlach, which was built in the twelfth century as a monastery. It was not until the nineteenth century that the monastery was converted into a castle. Then you cycle through Ingendael: a wonderfully quiet nature reserve with flowery grasslands through which the Geul meanders. Stop in Valkenburg to experience the atmosphere in the town, which feels like you are somewhere in Germany. History has left its mark here, for example you can see the ruins of Kasteel Valkenburg. You cycle back via the Bemelerberg and Sint Geertruid.
