Tour of Huis ter Wedde and Ruiten Aa

This route takes you through the area of Wedde. Your walk starts at Camperplaats Op Streek. Across the road you will find a milk tap, nice! The river Ruiten Aa meanders nearby, which you walk right past. Here you can enjoy a variety of convex fields, hay meadows, bushes and hedgerows. It is wonderfully quiet here. In the spring you will see numerous wild flowers. The characteristic Groningen farms are also present. From here you walk to Huis te Wedde, or Wedderburcht. This castle dates from the fourteenth century. For centuries, the Lords of Westerwolde resided in this stately building, who are now buried near the historic church in Wedde. You walk back to your starting point via a beautiful rural route.
