Furthermore, on the edge of the village lies the Beverweerd castle, but it is not open to the public. Langbroek is mainly known for its many castles, of which Hindersteijn is one. Cothen is a picturesque farming village with its location on the Kromme Rijn. The Kromme Rijn, a strongly winding river, used to be an important route for the transport of goods. In the nineteenth century,'Krommerijnsche schuiten\\\' provided freight transport to the city of Utrecht. Further on you pass the garden complex that is located on the grounds of the former Schalkwijk Castle, a beautiful spot.
