Zeewolde, Flevoland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 218580
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you along the Nuldernauw and Wolderwijd, two peripheral lakes that were created after the reclamation of Flevoland. It is a beautiful bike ride with many faces.
Spotting sea eagles
You drive along the Harderbroek, among other things. In this nature reserve, extensive reed fields, rugged swamps, grasslands and young primeval forest alternate. In the spring, the many flowering plants create a carpet of blossoms over the area. You can spot rare marsh birds such as the bittern and egret. And the white-tailed eagle that regularly comes to eat here. From the Gelderse Vallei you can see an impressive Green Wall on the other side of the Nuldernauw. This is the impressive Horsterwold, which you will also drive through later.
Hanseatic city of Harderwijk
The route also takes you through the historic center of Harderwijk, an old Hanseatic and fortified city. The center, which is a protected cityscape, has almost a hundred monuments, a pleasure to cycle through at a leisurely pace.
