Tour of the Maas from Maasbracht

In the region where the Netherlands is narrowest you will find the former Island in the Maas. On the edge of Ohé you will pass the sixteenth-century Hasselholt castle, also popularly called Het Geudje. The castle has a striking Maasland Renaissance facade from 1651. Then you cross the Maas. At Kessenich and Ophoven you drive a bit through Belgium while enjoying beautiful views over the Maasplassen. Then you cycle through the picturesque Thorn. This town has a historic center with white houses and many authentic buildings from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. The city was the capital of a miniature principality for more than 800 years!
