Tour of Schoonhoven and Alblasserwaard

Near Groot-Ammers you drive along the Molenkade past four polder mills. The quartet forms a beautiful Dutch picture. The Gelkenes Molen and the Achterlandse Molen are the oldest, dating from 1596. Then you drive towards Groot-Ammers, a village known for its many storks. There are several old small church villages along the Lek. You will pass through Schoonhoven, the town where goldsmiths have been active since the Middle Ages. You can still see this in the current street scene in the monumental silver workshops and silversmith houses. The Silver Museum, which is located in the former seventeenth-century Arsenal, has a special collection of Dutch silver that dates back to 1600. Be sure to check it out!
