Description
On June 7, 1917, the hilly area around Wijtschate was the backdrop for the Battle of the Mines. That day 19 deep mines exploded as an attack on the German positions. On this walking route you can still notice some craters of these mines today. In and around Wijtschate you can discover the story of the Battle of Mines up close. You will also pass some military cemeteries and WWI remnants, while you can enjoy the beautiful panorama of this rolling area.
